Christmas and New Year @ The Bat and Ball

Speed dating has always been popular at the Bat and Ball..........
OK boywonder, you can open the bowling and batting next season.....Chiddingstone is after all only a village cricket club!

At least the neighbours will get some peace and quite whilst these two are out for the night.......those bees don't half make a lot of buzzing noises!

Mirror, mirror on the wall.......
who is the fairest of them all...........
if only mirrors could talk!

The lovely Mrs Grayland,
some old geyser
and their minder Hong Kong Phooey!

Dennis the Menace
or just a Liverpool supporter looking for his moustache?!

Andy Capp (or should that be Handicap Bobbi?)....
he backs horses,
drinks in his local
and has apparently started building a pigeon loft in the back garden!

"Filthy Luka" Grayland looking somewhat shocked when told he'd got the job as the Manager at the Bat and Ball!

Batman and Betty Boo Keymer getting into the spirit (or should that be spirits!) on New Years Eve

The problem with kissing with your eyes shut is you never know who it is! Never mind though, the lads enjoyed it.
Jennifer and Clare, just in case you haven't heard (you must have gone deaf over Christmas!), are doing a Charity ride in China at the end of the year.........cash, cheques, credit card details are very welcome!http://www.chinacyclechallenge.com/

There are times when you should feel very proud of your children! University has already taught Smurf Kyrstie how to party in style.........

Natalie dragging Bish out of the pub once again. It wasn't easy with that double chin weighing him down. He's just such stimulating company after a few beers!

As you can see........parties are not to be missed at the Bat and Ball!

With thanks to David and Lara Edwards for the Photographs.

The Blue House Band Play Live

The Blue House Band were back at the Bat and Ball this week end and they get better and better each time we hear them. We can't help feeling a little proud of them, as they played their first live gig at the Bat. They have changed their set a little now and it is a little less rocky with an emphasis on Soul, which works really well with Holly's voice. The new keyboard player is a find too! We wish them lot's of success! If you want to hear more go to: www.myspace.com/thedexmusic

Here are a few photos of the night.

The Band are Playing!
The girls were dancing!

Our Vicar (Lionel) is Rocking!
(Must put the Red Eye Flash on for Storm's Eyes next time!!!)
And the village connection.....Matt the drummer!

More live music in November with Brightwhite.....Don't miss them they are excellent!

If we're talking rugby this week......it must be Leigh!

It is possible due to a game of minor importance in Paris, that you might not have heard that Leigh RFC won again on Saturday, 52 - 5 versus Maidstone Veterans (yes, they did have a player aged 65!). A great victory which should keep them at the top of the Mid Kent & East Sussex League "C".

And as for England, I think they did exceptionally well to reach the final and all I need do now is avoid Walshie for a couple of weeks!

The Ups and Downs of Last Week End's Rugby!

The Ups
So, England get to their 2nd consecutive Rugby World Cup Final! Did we have fun celebrating that on Saturday? The Bat was alive with song!............Are there anymore French drinks that Paul Harding can try to consume.........is he still alive?! Will Fishcake make it to the toilet if England win next week?!

And now we play South Africa. Is anyone confident of predicting a final result? Will Walshie be brave enough to watch it in the Pub? Will my lucky England Rugby Shirt be washed in time?

The Downs
Sadly, the Mighty Leigh had their first taste of defeat this season at the hands of New Ash Green. Starting with only ten and a much cobbled together front row, Leigh managed to forge an early lead, but as their numbers dropped with injuries (down to 12 by the end, possibly 11 if the referee hadn't intervened with an early whistle!) New Ash Green got the upper hand. A brave effort though, from all those left standing!

So.......will you be in the Bat on Saturday at 20:00. I hope you will. Extra TVs to be installed (slightly Heath Robinbson) in the Saloon Bar. Come and enjoy the atmosphere and party with us after a tremendous victory (does that count as a prediction)!
