The Blue House Band Play Live

The Blue House Band were back at the Bat and Ball this week end and they get better and better each time we hear them. We can't help feeling a little proud of them, as they played their first live gig at the Bat. They have changed their set a little now and it is a little less rocky with an emphasis on Soul, which works really well with Holly's voice. The new keyboard player is a find too! We wish them lot's of success! If you want to hear more go to: www.myspace.com/thedexmusic

Here are a few photos of the night.

The Band are Playing!
The girls were dancing!

Our Vicar (Lionel) is Rocking!
(Must put the Red Eye Flash on for Storm's Eyes next time!!!)
And the village connection.....Matt the drummer!

More live music in November with Brightwhite.....Don't miss them they are excellent!

If we're talking rugby this week......it must be Leigh!

It is possible due to a game of minor importance in Paris, that you might not have heard that Leigh RFC won again on Saturday, 52 - 5 versus Maidstone Veterans (yes, they did have a player aged 65!). A great victory which should keep them at the top of the Mid Kent & East Sussex League "C".

And as for England, I think they did exceptionally well to reach the final and all I need do now is avoid Walshie for a couple of weeks!

The Ups and Downs of Last Week End's Rugby!

The Ups
So, England get to their 2nd consecutive Rugby World Cup Final! Did we have fun celebrating that on Saturday? The Bat was alive with song!............Are there anymore French drinks that Paul Harding can try to consume.........is he still alive?! Will Fishcake make it to the toilet if England win next week?!

And now we play South Africa. Is anyone confident of predicting a final result? Will Walshie be brave enough to watch it in the Pub? Will my lucky England Rugby Shirt be washed in time?

The Downs
Sadly, the Mighty Leigh had their first taste of defeat this season at the hands of New Ash Green. Starting with only ten and a much cobbled together front row, Leigh managed to forge an early lead, but as their numbers dropped with injuries (down to 12 by the end, possibly 11 if the referee hadn't intervened with an early whistle!) New Ash Green got the upper hand. A brave effort though, from all those left standing!

So.......will you be in the Bat on Saturday at 20:00. I hope you will. Extra TVs to be installed (slightly Heath Robinbson) in the Saloon Bar. Come and enjoy the atmosphere and party with us after a tremendous victory (does that count as a prediction)!

Leigh RFC start season with a win!

Congratulations to Steve Johnson and his team on their triumphant start to the season with a comfortable win over Cranbrook. This week sees them at home to Gravesend, although the K/O time is yet to be confirmed as the guys all want to watch the England game. I'll try to let you know what time and where their playing as soon as I know.

Big week of sport at the Bat & Ball

So, England managed to make their way into the quarter finals........just! Did we some signs of improvement in the way they played and will it be enough for them to beat Australia on Saturday?

Anyway, it's a fantastic week of sport at the Bat and Ball. The Cricket One Day series starts today in Sri Lanka with the second match on Tuesday. We've got Champions League Football and the "Mighty" Everton playing in the Uefa Cup on Thursday. Can they make it to the 2nd round this time?! All the Rugby World Cup Matches will be shown on Saturday and Sunday and we will even squeeze in the odd Premiership game, opening on Sunday at 11:00 for the Sky+ game of Arsenal V Sunderland.

The Bat & Ball's the place to be this Sunday!
